Deviousness |
This song also kind of inspired me to do a hearse-themed drawing too, although it's more comedic (and includes a modern rather than an old hearse) [link].
I've mentioned this rather indirect inspiration and your amazing drawing in the description, but is it ok if I add a link in the description too?
But thanks for introducing me to this wonderful song too
I memorized the version I read a looong time ago! I used to sing it all the time!
This is the version I remember:
If you ever see a hearse go by
Then you may be the next to die
They wrap you in a big white sheet
From your head down to your feet
They put you in a big black box
And cover you up with dirt and rocks
All goes well for about a week
Then your coffin begins to leak
The worms crawl in the worms crawl out
The worms play pinnacle on your snout
They eat your eyes they eat your nose
They eat the jelly between your toes
A big green worm with rolling eyes
Crawls in your stomach and out your eyes
Your stomach turns a slimey green
And puss pours out like whipping cream
You spread it on a slice of bread
And thats what you eat when you are dead!!
Sorry for any typos!
I'll chip in the variation I learned:
Did you ever think, when the hearse goes by, that you may be the next to die?
They wrap you up in a big white sheet and throw you down about thirty feet.
You're alright for about a week until the coffin starts to leak!
The worms crawl in, the worms crawl out, in through your gizzard and out your snout!
